CYBERSECURITY ISN'T SEXY... UNTIL IT SAVES YOUR BACON

The LockDown Blog

Cybersecurity updates, warnings, strategies, tools, and recommendations, first and foremost.

But I love puns, have weird thoughts, and I bake, cook, and drink a lot. I mean I live in a California Wine Country with a thriving spirits, bitters, and mixers culture.

Come for the security... stay for the fun life things.

Zombie Apocalypse - The Second Thing You Should Do

March 24, 20232 min read

I know what I have on hand. Do you?

If you do, sweet.

But if you don’t, you’re going to want to catalog it, measure it, and if it’s not available, brainstorm what to or how to substitute.

How To Survive The Zombie Apocalypse

Covid is your roadmap.

So after panicking? Assess.

  1. Food Supplies.

  2. Clothing

  3. Bedding

  4. Shelter

When a disaster hits, the ability to drop into a grocery store and get the exact ingredient you need, just won’t exist anymore.

Water may be scarce.

Blankets and jackets may be hard to come by.

I know what my community survival skills are.

I know how to find water, food, and medical supplies in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. I’m not a prepper… more of a planner. So like me, you don’t need to be a doomsday prepper to have a few items in the house.

I live in California and most people are advised to have an earthquake kit that covers 3-5 days.

Amateurs.

Have you ever known the Government — anywhere — to be able to fix things fast? My kit will hold up for a month.

How do I know for sure? Pandemic.

My earthquake kit is a large locker in my garage. Ok, 2 large lockers. One for food items and water. The other for survival items, like blankets, towels, bedding, and clothes. One quick tip if you decide to put together a kit is once each season pull out food items and use them, replacing them with newer versions.

Also if you haven’t learned how to defend yourself against zombies and other threats using weapons or hand-to-hand combat?

You’ll need to learn the skills that will feed, clothe, and heal your friends.

Trust me. I’m a top 3 pick because I know how to feed (everything from scratch), clothe (sew, crochet, and upcycle sheets), and I have good herbal medicinal skills. I can also hunt, fish, and field dress. Thanks, Dad!

For a general emergency kit: think about water and food, first; then shelter, bedding, and outerwear.

If nothing else, think about water.
